Monday run.

Another interesting run today. The winter is not still convinced to take full stage here in Milan so it happens that you run in february with 10 Celsius and shorts.

At the end of my 8Km workout there were some thoughts that stroke me:

1) Serendipity keeps being the most powerful force in my life. While – in the locker room – choosing whether to go for the city track or the park track, the guy the city track is entitled to started texting out-of-the-blue (he’s having a hell of a world solo trip, vero Mattia?). Choice was then easy.

2) At 4.35 of average pace, after 4Km, my mind completely detaches from my body and I float somewhere 45 degrees up north of it. So if you see me and I don’t see you, you now know why.

3) Monday is the very best super perfect day for me to run. After the weekend food-pornography and the children invasion, after the beginning of the week morning back-to-back meetings, this is just me flying solo through the city.

4) Spotify random playlist knows much more of the inner-me that I’d want to.

Something new at the horizon.

Important day today.

Went for a 12 Km #running workout where we had to keep a stable pace at 5.00 min/km. Perfect field trial for a POC of an app we’re working on as a side project.

Basically I think there are powerful ways to drive our mind to do something we do not want to do. Ways to commit ourselves to the perfect result. Not really a la B.J. Fogg.
Let’s just say I’m truly convinced that when you’re concentrating in pumping all those muscles in the run, and breathing, and looking and where your placing your next step, etc., let’s just say I think I have a way to convince your brain to do what I want, which – in our case – is to keep a stable pace.

And I’m the worst pacer ever. EVVVER. Not able to run a single KM at the same pace as the previous one.

Still, being able to control your pace is DA skill if you’re serious about running.

My objective today was to keep a pace of 5. So here’s the result (tracked by runkeeper):

  • [app was off] Km 1: 6:13
  • Km 2: 4:46 [turned the app on]
  • Km 3: 4:56
  • Km 4: 4:56
  • Km 5: 5:00
  • Km 6: 5:00
  • Km 7: 4:56
  • Km 8: 4:49 (shit)
  • Km 9: 5:01
  • Km 10: 5:11 (street crossing)
  • Km 12: 4:59

Still have a lot of stuff to fix. and the UI. Lord forgive me for this UI. But we’re on the right track. Can’t wait to start gathering feedback from testers who don’t have my name and surname.

bchallenge. Day 4

Everything is becoming mechanical. And I’d say I’m happy this personall chalenge is coming to an end.

I really don’t care waking up at six every morning (there’s a lot of life out there at that time, I don’t feel alone), but I don’t like running in the cold anymore (and this morning we had 9 degrees at 6.10am) and definitely being forced to go to sleep at 11pm is the greatest sacrifice; don’t get me wrong: I’m totally ready to sleep and usually it takes less than 5 minutes… but where’s my after dinner time? that time I usually occupy with a mix of emails, work, thoughts, reading and relax?

But there’s one thing that makes me happy, just read the following bullet list:

  • Wednesday: running
  • Thursday: running
  • Friday: running
  • Saturday: golf
  • Sunday: tennis
  • Monday: running
Not bad at all, huh? :-)
