I won’t buy the Amazon Kindle

Amazon’s recently news about the European distribution of their eBook reader, the Kindle (a groundbreaking success in US last year) mounted quite a buzz here in Italy (the country were I currently live): it’s the first official move from the US ecommerce giant here, and took everybody (I have at least a friend who largely previewed this sometime ago) somebody by surprise.

Back to the title of this post I’d say that not only I won’t buy the Kindle, but – at the current conditions of offer, price and general country-based context – I’m not going to buy any kind of reader for ebooks.

UX Conference in Lugano

Note: all outgoing links will lead you to pages in Italian.

I just received an update from Luca Mascaro (friend and deus ex machina behind the UX company Sketchin) about an interesting conference on User Experience that’s going to be held in Lugano (Swiss) next December, 3rd.

The UX Conference claims itself as “The first conference on the user experience with a look at the innovation in strategy & design, mobility, playability and agile methods”.

You might want to buy a ticket here using my personal discount code (I’ve checked with Luca, and he’s fine with this :-) ) which gaves you access to a 10% discount (on the early bid price too):

As strange as it could be (it’s a small World) 3 of the 4 Keynoters are close friends; you might also want to join them as a speaker submitting a paper for review.

Frontiers and the other European conferences

I’ve first met Laurent Haug, Lift Conference founder and CEO, back in 2006 for his conference first edition (my speech was about an assistive technology I developed and patented called Flash Voice); since then Lift growed to become one of the top 5 innovation related conferences world wide (Lift Asia just finished and they have a Lift France edition too).

I’ve talked Laurent about Frontiers of Interaction and how cool was this year edition (hey, all the speeches are available, for free, in videos!) and his was so kind to ask me to guest blog on their site. You can find it here.

Moving a little bit norther you should take a look at PICNIC conference, where our friend Gianfranco Chicco is head of Marketing, which is taking place tomorrow in Amsterdam (my pal Leeander will be there).

I’m really looking forward to host both Lift and PICNIC organizers next year at Frontiers10.
